A very short clip from a 5 minute animated film created entirely on Amigas and first broadcast on Central TV, England in October 1997. We wanted to prove the Amiga was still a force to be reckoned with when it came to the production of 2D animation. I think we succeeded in making the 'powers that be' at Central TV sit up and take notice anyway. We used quite a basic set up really. Two Amiga A1200s - one with Blizzard 1230 / 50 meg RAM, the other with Blizzard 1260 / 34 meg RAM. The animation was drawn on paper in pencil and scanned into the Amiga to be compiled in Brilliance and DPaint V. AnimatED was used to check the anims synched up to the roughly sampled soundtrack. MainActor Broadcast was used to time and play the anims to broadcast quality tape. This tape was then edited and the original DAT soundtrack married up and sound effects and music dubbed on. Both Amigas are now in Power Towers and graphics cards will be added soon with a bit of luck. This will mean we won't have to worry so much about how many colours we are using and if the animation will play back at the required frame rate!
