CardFile READ.ME Program Update:

** Upgrading from 1.1 or 1.2 **
1. Delete old CFG and APT files. Create new files using
the new program version included on this disk.
2. This version fixes a bug in the insertion of cards which
are alphabetized by company name. If you have any cards out
of order, you must get them in the proper order or future
additions may be out of order as a result. The easiest way
to do this is to create a new clean file and merge the old
   one in.
3. If you know of any previous versions on the bulletin boards,
please delete these or request that they be deleted. If you
would like, there is an ARC file provided in the DEMO folder
which you can upload to local boards. This is very much
   appreciated.

** Version 1.41 **
1. This release add label printing, "chapter" printing, and
   intelligent page breaks.

** Compatibility **
1. Anyone noticing problems when using CardFile along with Hotwire
should send in to CodeHead Software for the latest version of
Hotwire. We understand that their latest version is compatible
with CardFile. We very much appreciate CodeHead Software's
   efforts to resolve the conflict.
2. VIP will read CardFile data files without modification by using
'IMPORT as NUMBERS'. LDW Power only recognizes spaces as field
delimiters. Use a word processor to replace "," with " "
throughout the data file before importing into LDW Power.
3. A user has reported that the send function does not work with
   SCRIPT.

** Changing screen resolution **
1. Theoretially, if one were to change resolution without rebooting,
the keyboard buffer may not initialize properly if the CardFile
accessory is loaded. It is not normally possible to do this,
   however.

** Date stamp Hint **
1. If you need to save a date stamp with your address cards, such
as shipping dates, type the date in once and save it as a macro.
Then it can be quickly inserted into a note line each time a card
   is added.

** MultiDesk **
1. At this time we cannot recommend using CardFile under MultiDesk
from CodeHead Software. It will work properly as long as you
exit using the closer box only - not the CNTRL-Q or exit button
in the Main Menu. The reason for this is unknown at this time.
Also, this means that you cannot use the Send option under
MultiDesk. An alternative is to use another program
such as SuperBoot to configure your desktop and change accessories.
This incompatibility will definitely be resolved in a future revision.

** Revisions **
1. Version 1.41 adds enhanced printer functions. The "Chapter On/Off"
function allows you to define whether CardFile will send a form feed
after each letter when printing address books and phone lists.

The printout options now include "Label sheets". This options allows
you to printer custom defined label sheets for mass mailings. One, two,
or three columns of labels can be specified. Use the printer control
function to set compressed mode if needed for your labels.

** Note regarding save prompt **
A few users have been confused when prompted to save the calendar data
file even though they had made no changes. This is proper if the cleanup
option is active and cleanup has occurred. Reply "Yes" and the prompt
will not return next time you exit normally or exit by "sending".

** Version 1.42 modifications **
Previous versions of the accessory did not recover properly when
a CARDFILE folder had not been created as specified in the manual.
Version 1.42 will now work properly. The CFG, APT, and DAT files
will be saved to the root directory instead.

** Graphics Calendar **
Don't forget that you can use the Atari print screen key sequence
Alt-Help to print the full monthly calendar.

** Registered owners ( those who have purchased CardFile directly from
GT Software or have sent in their manual registration page ) can
obtain support on GENIE @ T.GILL7, on CompuServe @ 73467,777 or
by phone or fax at (216) 252-8255.

** We have a MS-DOS/GEM version of CardFile. It is fully functional
except for the send function. It is great to work on WordPlus,
CardFile, Draw, etc on both machines on the same files with
roughly the same operating system. The only thing MS-DOS/GEM
   CardFile lacks is distribution.

If any ST CardFile owners are interested in an MS-DOS/GEM version
and have ideas as to how this could be marketed, please contact
   GT Software.
