 OVERVIEW
 --------

XYZSHELL is a shell to be used with the new version of XYZ.TTP
v2.01 by Alan Hamilton. Alans new version is an excellent upgrade
and should be supported in shareware contributions. Contributions
made to XYZSHELL are seperate from XYZ.TTP.

 SETUP
 -----

The following files must be placed in the same directory as
XYZ.TTP:

     XYZSHELL.PRG
     XYZSHELL.RSC

If you've ran previous versions of XYZSHELL, you must delete the
XYZSHELL.CNF file as it is incompatible with this latest version.
XYZSHELL can be ran from any terminal program that supports
running of external programs or from the desktop. Bear in mind
that XYZSHELL is a GEM program even though XYZ.TTP is a TTP
program, thus you must configure your system to be running a GEM
program not a TTP or TOS program. An example is with FLASH, to
run the shell from FLASH, press your INSERT key, (at the terminal
screen), then type GEM. A dialog box will appear that will allow
you to select which GEM program to run. A simpler method is to
configure one of the function keys in FLASH to automaticly run
XYZSHELL. Simply place the following command in a function key
macro in FLASH:

     >GEM D:\XYZSHELL|

Now when you press the function key associated with that macro,
XYZSHELL will immediatly start up. Once the program runs for the
first time it will notify you that there is no config file
located and will use the default settings. Once the program
completely loads you can then choose those options that you wish
to use each time and click on SAVE CONFIG. XYZSHELL will then
create a new config file in the same directory.

 OPTIONS
 -------

I will not go into great detail of all of the options since they
are documented in the XYZ.TTP documentation. If you need more
detail, read those instructions. Not all of the options are
available in XYZSHELL that are available in XYZ.TTP (Returning a
STATUS indicator, etc). If you need those additional options
simply run XYZ.TTP as a stand-alone program.

PAUSE - This will pause the program after uploading or
downloading. Otherwise XYZ will exit and clear the screen.

VERBOSE - This tells XYZ to tell everything that is going on
in great detail.

HELP - This brings up the help screen built into XYZ. This
command will take priority over any other command.

ALARM - This tells XYZ to ring the bell upon completion of
tasks.

TOUCH - This tells XYZ to update files with the system date
upon downloading.

LOG.TXT - Choosing this option tells XYZ to create a file
called log.txt showing any errors that occured during an
operation.

USE LIST - This tells XYZ to look for a file called X.TXT to
use as the list of files to be uploaded. You can use MAKE LIST to
create this file as you download, or you can create the file in
standard ASCII format with a word processor.

MAKE LIST - This tells XYZ to create a file called X.TXT
which will have a list of files downloaded during a session which
then can be used with the USE LIST command.

QUIET - There are 2 options in this command. Choosing "q"
results in no error messages appearing. Choosing "qq" means NO
messages at all to be displayed during a session.

ONE FILE - In use with YMODEM and ZMODEM batch downloads
tells XYZ to only accept the first file sent. With XYZSHELL you
must also include a filename.

RETRYS - Clicking on the shaded area will allow you to
change the amount of times that XYZ will attempt retrys. The
default is 10.

DRIVE - Clicking on the shaded area will allow you to
configure your default ul/dl drive. When you save with the SAVE
CONFIG option, this is also saved.

CARRIER DETECT - Tells XYZ to abort if carrier is lost
during a session.

SAVE CONFIG - This saves all highlighted options and your
drive assignment in a file called XYZSHELL.CNF.

SHOW PATH - Not available in this version, but in the next
version will also allow you to save a default path for uploading
and downloading.

To activate the options, simply click on on DO IT or press your
RETURN key.
