                           The Catnap Sound Track

This document describes how to install the sound track for
the Catnap animation by G.Johnson on the Atari-ST, and how to play
     the video.

                                 Installing the files

You'll need at least 2.5 Megabytes of memory installed in
your ST and at least 720,000 bytes of free space on your hard
drive. (1.8 Meg if you are installing the Catnap animation as
well.) You'll also need the animation itself, CATNAP.SEQ, which
is not included in the CAT_TRAK.ARC file.

First, create a folder named "CATNAP" to put all the files
in. This should be on the drive with all the free space
     necessary.

Next, un-ARC CAT_TRAK.ARC into the CATNAP folder. For
example, "ARC X CAT_TRAK.ARC CATNAP\*.*". (With FATSPEED or TOS
     1.04, and a 1MB RAM-disk, this will take about 6 minutes. Un-
ARCing from a floppy will take considerably longer.)

Last, move CATNAP.SEQ, or un-ARC CATNAP.ARC, into the CATNAP
folder. Note: if you don't have room, or don't want to move
CATNAP.SEQ, you can edit the script, CATNAP.AVS, with a text
editor or word processor and change the path for CATNAP.SEQ. (Be
sure to save it as an "ASCII" or "TEXT" file if you use a word
     processor.)

                          Running the Catnap Video

Make sure you have about 2,348,000 bytes of free memory to
load the video. You can do this by running the player program,
AVSPLAYR.PRG, and selecting the Memory option from the Menu. If
there's not enough then you'll have to unload some Desk
Accessories or "AUTO" programs, reboot and check again. (On a 2.5
Meg ST you'll have to unload all of your Desk Accessories and
"AUTO" programs, except for the Hard Disk driver, and reboot.)

Open the CATNAP folder and run (double-click) the player
program, AVSPLAYR.PRG. Select "Load" from the Menu and select
"CATNAP.AVS" from the file selector. It will a little more than 3
minutes to load, so kick back and relax.

When the video has finished loading, select "Play Once" or
"Play Loop" from the Menu and enjoy the video. (To exit "Play
Loop" press the Escape [ESC] key. The loop will stop at the end
     of the video.)

                         Credit where Credit is due

The video was assembled using the Audio/Video Sequencer (AVS)
editor from STart Magazine, Volume 3, Number 4, November 1988.
The sounds for the sound track were sampled using Replay4 from
MicroDeal. The animation was analized with the aid of Cyber Paint
     from ANTIC Software.
