Perspective - Available only while the Camera window is active, Perspective (P:) is a visual effect similar to the difference between a wide-angle and a telephoto lens. SCALE [ SCALE ] The Z/P box will become a SCALE box when any of the 3 non-Camera (or Auxiliary) view windows are active. Scale proportionately reduces or enlarges the size of all selected objects in the universe. ROTATE [ROTATE] When highlighted, ROTATE is controlled by both the horizontal and the vertical slider bars. When Camera is active, ROTATE moves the camera about a circular path around the universe. When non-Camera windows are active, ROTATE rotates all selected objects in the universe about the center of a previously selected pivot point. SLIDER BARS [<- [] ->] Horizontal and vertical slider bars affect the Camera or the Cad 3D universe depending on which view windows are active. Both slider bars operate in the fashion similar to those on the disk directory windows. DRAG DIRECTION ICON ^ < + > The Drag Direction v icon limits the direction you may drag objects or groups of objects within the non-Camera view windows. SOLO/OMNI DRAG ICON [] []-> From within any of the non-Camera view windows, you may choose to drag one of several objects or drag all objects as a group. Cloning - You may copy any object while you are in Solo-drag mode by holding down the [Shift] key, then clicking and dragging the source object to another part of the universe. Group Pivot Point - Click once on the Pivot Selection Icon to reset the pivot point to the center of your selected group of objects. Arbitrary Pivot Point - Click on the Pivot Point Selection Icon a third time to select an arbitrary pivot point. Make sure at least 2 of the non-Camera view windows are set to AUTO. ROTATION ICON __ / \ The Rotation \__/ Icon displays the Object Group Rotation dialogue or the Camera Bank Angle Dialogue. The Object Group Rotation dialogue is used to perform rotations on selected object(s) around a plane parallel to the face of the active non-Camera view window. The Camera Bank Angle dialogue affects the banking angle of the Camera view. HOME ICON | [] -- + -- Click on | this icon to move an object, or group of objects to the imaginary center of the universe. OBJECT GROUP SIZE ICON ---- | [] | Click on this icon to ---- scale all the selected objects equally in all directions. GROUP SELECTION ICON [A][B][C][D] The icons labelled A through D allow you to choose up to four different combinations of selected/deselected object groups at any time. PRIMITIVES ICON/OBJECT NAME & COLOR [] O /\ Six primitive shapes are stored in memory and may be created by clicking on the Primitives icon. Object names - Each object must have an unique name and the program will prompt you if the one you give is not unique. Object colors/shades - You may choose a shading pattern or a color at this point. SPIN ICON \ | / \|/ Spinning /|\ creates an object of revolution -- much like using a lathe. The outline of the object is drawn on the Spin screen. Then the outline is spun to create depth. This outline is called a template. Desk: Description of Spin and any desk accessories are available. File: The template of your object may be saved to or loaded from disk. Options: Grid - A grid of dots will cover the drawing screen. Snap - All set template points will automatically "snap" to a grid dot. Measure - Measured values will appear in the upper window bar. Do Spin - Click on Do spin to create the 3D object. Partial Spin - Spins only a portion of your object. Edit: Clear - Erases current template. Remove - Removes last point set in your template. Connect - Connects the origin point of the template with a rubber band line to the last point for a closed object. Rubberband - Shows a rubber band while drawing which lets you see the position of the line before the point is set. EXTRUDE ICON [its a 3d triangle] Click on the Extrude Icon to access the Extrude tool. Extrude operates like a jigsaw. You define the shape to be cut out, as if you were cutting the shape from a piece of plywood. Extrude cuts it and adds depth. Click the mouse to set your template points and create an out- line of your object using both sides of the screen. Desk: Describes Extrude and any desk accessories are available. File: The template of your object may be saved to or loaded from disk. Options: Grid - A grid of dots will cover the drawing screen. Snap - All set template points will automatically "snap" to a grid do Measure - Measured values will appear in the upper window bar. STATISTICS ICON [#] Allows you to keep track of the number of vertices and faces being used by each of the objects in memory. DRAW SUPER VIEW ICON [SUPERVIEW] Click on this to create a full-screen view of your Cad 3D composition from the same viewpoint as the Camera window. Rotate - Rotate your view vertically by holding the left mouse button down and moving the mouse in a vertical direction. Move the mouse horizontally to rotate horizontally in either direction. RECORD BUTTON/FRAME COUNTER [RECORD] 000000 When recording a sequence of Super View frames, click once for each frame. The Super View will auto redraw, the frame counter will update by one, the Last and Free values will update, and the Super View will be added to a special memory buffer. OBJECT JOIN ICON [I]+[II]=[III] Joining lets you combine two objects in the creation of a third unique object. Add - The new object will consist of all the first object plus all of the second object. Subtract - The new object consists of the first object minus the intersecting area of the second. And - The new object consists of the intersecting area of the first objects. Stamp - The new object consists of the first object with the inter- secting area imprinted on its surface in the shape, shade, and color of the second object. VIEW WINDOWS There are five types of windows: the Camera view, the three non-Camera view, the Spin, the Extrude, and the Super View. 3 are accessed by their icons. To activate a window, simply click anywhere within it. There are four icons on the left side of each window which represent the window's viewing mode. Beneath each window is the AUTO button, which will update the windows view during a redraw, no matter which window is active. CAMERA VIEW WINDOW Camera movements are effected through use of the Z/P and ROTATE boxes, in connection with the slider bars, plus the Rotate Icon, all of which are in the Icon Control Panel. Pr-Sets: Zoom = 200, Perspective = 350. NON-CAMERA VIEW (AUXILIARY) WINDOWS These windows are used for the Left/Right, Front/Back,and Top/Bottom views. Each window has two modes: Rotation and Scale.
