The MINI-DUMPSTOR is "shareware". Feel free to copy the program and give it to anyone, as long as the copyright and author notice are left intact. If you do so, please include this README.TXT file so that a person will have some idea of what the program is for. Remember, this is NOT, repeat NOT TRUE of the DATA DUMPSTOR ST. It is a copyrighted commercial program, and unauthorized copying is extremely illegal. The MINI-DUMPSTOR is a desktop accessory. Take one of the 3 copies of the program out of the folder and copy it to a disk. Make sure the disk is in the drive when booting, and it will automatically be loaded. It will work with most any program that uses the standard ST desktop GEM interface. It's most likely you would want to use this accessory with a MIDI sequencer or other librarian program, but how you use it is up to you. The Mini-Dumpstor is a very simple program. It has only one function. It will load a file from disk and send it via MIDI. There are 3 sizes of the program, one with a 10K buffer, one a 32K buffer, and one a 64K buffer. MIDI data files created and saved from the Data Dumpstor ST always end with the suffix '.STM' so that you know they are Data Dumpstor ST MIDI files. However, I purposely haven't limited the disk directory to only include the '.STM' files so that the Mini-Dumpstor can even be used with data files created from other MIDI librarians and data storage programs. Use the version that will load the files you need and still leave the maximum amount of storage for your sequencer or librarian. When the Mini-Dumpstor is first loaded you must decide if you want to use normal, slow, or slower MIDI sending speed. For almost all applications, the normal speed is correct. You may wish to slow down the transfer speed for certain instruments. You must be careful what file you load into the Mini-Dumpstor. It will load and send any file that will fit into the buffer. It's not at all discriminating, any file will do. Please don't send your favorite Basic program to your synth, I don't think it will like what it receives. I know the program will not load Roland TR707's and Casio CZ synths, but a lot of others will work, so feel free to try, just make sure you have a backup of any data in case it doesn't. If you find this program useful, or if you just feel generous, send a contribution ($10 or whatever) to me: Dean Richard C/O Music Service Software 801 Wheeler Rd. Madison WI 53704 Once again I remind you - the Data Dumpstor ST is a copyrighted commercial program. I don't make a lot of money at this, please don't pirate it and give it to others. Enjoy the Mini-Dumpstor on me...
