     FB-Patch is a voice and configuration editor/librarian for use with 
the Atari ST and the Yamaha FB-01 FM Sound Generator. FB-Patch is written
in compiled GFA Basic. Version 1.10 is being distributed as "optionware".
Use it and/or distribute it at no cost. However, FB-Patch IS copyrighted.
So, please remember to include this "READ ME" file AND the DOCument file
anytime FB-Patch is distributed. Also, no charge should be made (other
than the media cost and any shipping/handling costs) for providing this
software.


     If you feel that FB-Patch is useful to you, then please select one
(or more) of the following 3 Options:


        (1) Make your contribution to the Public Domain by uploading 
            48 (or more) voices to your favorite BBS. Be sure to 
            indicate that they are FB-Patch voices.


        (2) Register as an FB-Patch owner by sending $15.00 (check or
            money order) to:

            All registered FB-Patch owners will receive the next release
            (version 2.00) of FB-Patch FREE on its completion. Version
            2.00 is in progress and will be available in March or April.
            *NOTE* See below for details concerning version 2.00. 


        (3) Register as an FB-Patch owner by sending the following
            (instead of $15.00):

                      - 48 ORIGINAL voices on a single-sided 3.5" disk
                        (in FB-Patch format) AND $11.00;
                 *OR*
                      - 96 ORIGINAL voices on a single-sided 3.5" disk
                        (in FB-Patch format) AND $9.00.

            Please include written permission to include any or all of
            your voices with future releases of FB-Patch. (You will be
            given credit for your voices.)



     Version 2.00 of FB-Patch will be available from Polk Products for
$30.00 in early 1988 (March or April). When FB-Patch 2.00 is officially 
released all registered FB-Patch owners will automatically receive a free
upgrade to version 2.00. 



     The current functions of FB-Patch (version 1.10) include:

         - Instrument (Voice) and Configuration transfer both to and from
             the FB-01.

         - FB-01 Voice and Configuration editing, creating, saving to disk,
             and retrieving from disk.

         - Optional "real-time" updating of FB-01 instrument as parameters
             are updated.

         - Testing an FB-01 voice (instrument) using the mouse to vary pitch
             and velocity.









     Version 2.00 of FB-Patch will add the following features:

         - Detailed FB-Patch documentation.
         - More extensive "online" helps.
         - FB-01 bank processing (multiple banks of 48 voices each).
         - User-provided descriptions to be saved with voices and
             configurations.
         - Hardcopy printing of voice data sheets.
         - Creation of "voice data sheet" ASCII files. 
         - Batch scripts to upload instruments, voices, and configurations
             to the FB-01. Script files can be created within FB-Patch or 
             by using a text editor.
         - An accompanying ".TTP" program to process script files external
             to FB-Patch.
         - Access to desk accessories.
         - "Full screen" processing in monochrome (high resolution).







     Version 2.00 will also include fixes for any bugs that are reported by
the user community. There are currently no known bugs.


     Any suggested enhancements will also be considered for implementation
in FB-Patch 2.00.


     Included with FB-Patch 2.00 will be an assortment of FB-01 voices. These
voices will include voices submitted by registered owners (as described above)
plus at least 2 additional banks of 48 voices each.
