Sinclair ZX Spectrum Guide of Games for DOS v. 1.1 This guide is an attempt to collect information about games published for Sinclair ZX Spectrum. It contains several fields of information like publisher, year of release, pokes, controls, aim, gameplay, hints and tips, comments and rating. It also includes Richard Swann's great How to Hack on ZX Spectrum guide. I have used several sources of information. Most of the game instructions and descriptions are from ftp.nvg.unit.no pub/spectrum/instructions directory. Some have been posted in com.sys.sinclair newsgroup. Some of the ratings are from Sinclair User (Dec 1985,no. 45) as well as classifications. None of the comments are mine. Unzip ZX-GAMES.ZIP and SIMHLP1C.ZIP to the same directory. To make stand alone .EXE run SHEXE.BAT To make TSR .EXE run SHTSR.BAT Compiled .EXE will be named ZX-GAMES.EXE. Is it possible to call a TSR Guide while in JPP or Z80? In JPP yes. Before you start JPP run TSR version of the guide. Start JPP and press F3 to load a game. When the program asks you to press any key you can press TSR hot-key to check controls etc. If only there was a way to insert a poke... How to change colours? Run SHED.EXE Load .SRC file Edit screen attributes Copy screen attributes to screens you want Save file and compile again Where can I find the newest version of the Guide of Games? It depends on you whether there will be any new versions of the guide. I have been completely out of the Spectrum scene since 1986 so I don't have any information about games since then. So don't hesitate to send me ANY information concerning games. I will upload the newest version to ftp.nvg.unit.no . Acknowledgements Robert E. Alternatively you can run SHED.EXE, load .SRC file, search for game, fill in the missing fields, print screen text to file and email it to me. + A newer version of Simply Help! - Is there any? The one I have is 1.05 or 1.06 in SIMHLP1C.ZIP (January, 1992). + I haven't found a way to have a "wallpaper" when you compile several .SRC files. + Some kind soul to convert Guide to HLPDK format to help people on different platforms (Desqview-X, OS/2, Unix, Windows...). (I just hate those cryptic commands :( ) + Somebody to spell check the guide and this readme.txt . My english not good :) . Let's all keep the Spectrum scene alive and hackin'! Timo mito@mits.mdata.fi
