STOP TIMER 1-2 ======================================================================= Psion Shift or Delete key Stop the highlighted timer. When you choose to stop a timer, you have three choices: . Log to File . Stop Timer . Log/Continue Note: Make sure you have highlighted the correct timer. Choose "Log to File" if you are ready to stop the Timer and Log it. Choose "Stop Timer" if you want to stop the Timer without logging it. Choose "Log/Continue" if you want to Log the Timer, reset it to zero, and continue without deleting it. PAUSE 1-3 ======================================================================= P or Psion

This option will pause the currently highlighted timer. All timers can be paused individually. Pressing P again will start the timer running again. Even when you shut down the program, LOG-IT! keeps track of all timers. If they are paused, the program will remember that they are paused when starting up. ADJUST TIMER 1-4 ======================================================================= Psion Use this option when you want to change something about a running timer. You can modify anything about the running timer. Add or subtract time from the timer, change it's description, or billing rate. The maximum you can add or subtract at one time is 23:59 UPDATE ACTIVITY/COMMENTS 1-5 ======================================================================= Psion Shift or Space bar Use this option when you want to change the activity or comments for the highlighted timer. CLEAR ALL 1-7 ======================================================================= Psion Clears all timers. This option removes all timers from the screen without prompting to save. VIEW CURRENT CHARGES 1-5 ======================================================================= Psion or Tab key Brings up a dialog showing the current charges of the highlighted timer, based on the (Elapsed time * the hourly rate) COUNTDOWN TIMER 1-8 ======================================================================= Start New Timer - Choose type Countdown LOG-IT! now has a CountDown timer so that you can have a timer count down instead of tracking time. There is no menu command for starting a CountDown timer. You can start a CountDown timer by starting a timer in the normal way. When the new timer dialog comes up, choose "Timer Type" of "CountDown", and not "Normal". Choose a database item, or enter a new description. Press Enter. Next, choose the time for the timer, and the Sound you want to use. LOG-IT! will play the sound you choose when the time is up. Note that when you start a CountDown timer, a much bigger window opens up to display the amount of time left. You can press the menu key for options. Press Escape to minimize the big CountDown timer window. When viewing a CountDown timer in the smaller timer window, you can press the tab key to expand the timer window. OVERVIEW SECTION 2 - Database 2-1 ======================================================================= LOG-IT! now automatically saves all Timer names to a database. It does this when you start a new timer. The text that you put into the Name field is saved along with the hourly rate. Once you have some entries in your database, you will see that you can choose a database entry instead of typing it out again. Your preferences must be set to "Add New Timers to Database Automatically". Note: You can disable the auto save by ending the timer description with the @ character. Note: Starting with version 5.0 the database is unlimited. You can add as many items as needed. NEW ENTRY 2-2 ======================================================================= Psion New - Lets you add a new database entry manually. This way you can append your database in advance, without waiting for LOG-IT! to do it for you. Note that the database can also save your comments. Commas ARE now allowed in database items. EDIT 2-3 ======================================================================= Psion Shift or or Edit - Lets you edit the database. You may need to do this if a word or name is misspelled, or the hourly rate changes. When the list comes up, choose the entry you want to delete and press enter. SORT 2-5 ======================================================================= Psion This option sorts the database. You can also sort the saved entries in the Log View. OVERVIEW SECTION 3 - Activities 3-1 ======================================================================= LOG-IT! now includes activities as a way of identifying the task being performed during the timer event. The activity list is currently limited to a list of around 235 characters, or at 8 characters per activity you'll be able to create around 28 activities. If you use codes like 2035, you'll be able to create around 50 activities. This limit can be overcome in future versions if needed. Example Activities: . Deposition . Consulting . Phone Calls . 2035 The Log view can now print by activity, so these are important if you need a way to organize timed entries better. NEW ACTIVITY 3-2 ======================================================================= Psion New - Lets you add a new Activity to the Activities database. Activities are limited in length to 12 characters. EDIT ACTIVITY 3-3 ======================================================================= Psion Shift Edit - Lets you edit an activity. Use this option to make any changes to the activity database. DELETE 3-4 ======================================================================= Psion Shift Delete - This option will let you delete an activity from the activity database. When the list comes up, choose the entry you want to delete and press enter. After you have deleted the entry, Logit continues with the list to let you delete more activities. When finished press Escape. SORT ACTIVITIES 3-5 ======================================================================= Psion Shift This option sorts the activities database in alphabetic order. SET PREFERENCES SECTION 4 - Special 4-1 ======================================================================= Psion The preferences dialog has a few options to set. . Favorite View Timer,Log . Allow More Than One Active Timer Yes,No . File to Open When Entering Log View Default,Last Logged . Prompt for filename when logging to file Yes,No . Add new Timers to Database Automatically Yes,No . The First option sets your favorite view, Timer or Log. This forces LOG-IT! to open your favorite view at startup. . The Second option - "Allow More Than One Active Timer" lets you decide how many timers can be running simultaneously. When you choose to NOT allow more than one, LOG-IT! will pause all timers when you start a new timer, or resume a timer. . The Third option lets you choose which Log file to open when going into the Log View. Choosing "Default" will tell LOG-IT! to always open the default log file. (Timerlog.log). If you choose "Last Logged", the last file that was logged to will be opened by default. . Choose the Fourth option when you want the ability to save the timer entry to any log file. This is useful when you already have multiple logs created and want to save the timer entries directly to a certain log. If you don't choose "Yes", LOG-IT! will automatically save timer entries to the file called "Timerlog.log", which is the default log file. . The Fifth option tells LOG-IT! whether or not to auto save new Timer info to the database. It does this when you start a new Timer. If you've got all of the items in your database that you want, whether entered manually, or automatically, set this to "No" and no more will be saved. VERSION 4-2 ======================================================================= Psion Brings up the current version number. ZOOM 4-3 ======================================================================= Psion Zooms the font size. LOG-IT! uses two font sizes. Basically large and small. Both the Timer view and Log View can be zoomed. ABOUT LOG VIEW SECTION 5 - Log View 5-1 ======================================================================= The Log View is where you go to view your saved timer entries. When you choose to stop a timer, you have the option of logging the data to file. Choosing the "Log to file" option will save the data to the Log file. If you want to be prompted for a specific Log file when stopping timers, make sure you set this in the preferences. The option is called "Prompt for Filename When Logging to File". Set this to "Yes". This will force Logit to ask you for a specific file to save each timer to. If this is not set, Logit just saves timers to the default file called Timerlog.log After you've logged a timer, press the diamond key to open the Log View where you can view or print your saved timer entries. If a saved entry has comments attached, you will see the small flipped page icon to the left of the entry. Press the space bar to view the comments. Note that you can resize the status window when in the Log View by pressing Control

. The "Start Time" field only shows when the status window is completely closed. There is not enough room for it otherwise. Note: Special hotkey - Psion will open the default log file. This is helpful when you have a different log file, and want to jump back quickly. One of the more powerful features in the Log view is the ability to set a viewing filter. Choose "Set Filter", or Psion to go to this option. From here you can tell Logit to display the total time and charges of the items meeting your criteria. You can set the view by date, or by item name. See the section on "Set Filter" for more on this. CREATE NEW LOG File Menu 5-2 ======================================================================= Psion Creates a new log file. Use this to create a separate file for each client or item. With multiple files you can later archive log entries into any log file. After creating the file use Psion to open it. OPEN LOG 5-3 ======================================================================= Psion Opens a log file. You can also open an Archive file here to look at entries that have been archived. When the dialog comes up, enter the file you want to open and press Enter. Defaults to the \App\LOGIT directory. SAVE AS 5-4 ======================================================================= Psion This gives you the opportunity of saving the current logged data to a separate log file. Enter the filename and press Enter to save it. This defaults to the \App\LOGIT directory. DELETE LOG 5-5 ======================================================================= Psion Shift You can delete log files from the system screen, but this gives you a way to do it from within the LOG-IT! application. SORT LOG 5-6 ======================================================================= Psion Sorts your log entries by date or by activity. When sorting, Logit will also keep entries in order by starting time. When sorting by activity, Logit lists all entries with an activity at the top. EXPORT LOG 5-7 ======================================================================= Psion Shift You can now export your LOG-IT! Log files to comma delimited format. LOG-IT! also supports other delimiters, including tab and space. By default the export file gets saved to the M:\Wrd directory. ADD AN ENTRY SECTION 6 - Edit menu 6-1 ======================================================================= Psion Use this option when you want to quickly add an entry to the Log. This is useful when you have not had time to start a timer, or were away from your Series 3a. UPDATE 6-2 ======================================================================= Psion or Enter Use this to update a saved log entry. You can change anything about the entry. . Description . Activity . Date . Starting Time . Hours . Minutes . Hourly Billing Rate DELETE 6-3 ======================================================================= Psion or Delete key Use this option to delete the current highlighted entry. CLEAR ALL 6-4 ======================================================================= Psion Shift Use the "Clear All" option to remove all log entries from the log file without deleting the file itself. Copy & Paste 6-5 ======================================================================= Psion - Psion Use the copy/paste options when you want to copy a log entry to a separate log file without deleting the original. This is almost the same as using "Save to Archive", except that when you paste a log entry the original doesn't get deleted. SAVE TO ARCHIVE 6-6 ======================================================================= Psion Shift Use this option when you want to save entries to an archive. You can save just the highlighted entry, or save by date to save many entries. An archive is a backup file. Use this when you are ready to put an entry away for storage. You can save to any valid log file. The file doesn't have to be called "Archive". All entries to be archived are deleted after archiving. VIEW COMMENTS 6-7 ======================================================================= Psion or space bar (If item has comments) You can view the comments attached to a saved entry by pressing the space bar. The small flipped page icon shows which items have comments. If an item has no comment, and you want to add one, choose "Update", and enter your comments there. When viewing comments using the space bar, you can edit the comments by pressing the space bar again, or by pressing the menu key and choosing "Edit". SET FILTER SECTION 7 - Report 7-1 ======================================================================= Psion Use this option to limit the total charges on the bottom of the screen to a certain item. Note: Use Wildcards *?. If you want to display a total by item, and the item is called "IBM Internationl", type in "IBM*". Logit find exact matches, so you need the star (*) wildcard. The Set Filter dialog looks like this: Search Item * Set Date Filter All Dates,Select Starting Date 01/01/1995 Ending Date Todays date Press the Star key (*) to quickly set the filter back to All. VIEW BY HOURS - HOURS/MINUTES 7-2 ======================================================================= Psion Shift There are two ways of viewing the elapsed time for an entry in the Log View. . 02:30 - Hours:Minutes . 2.5 hrs Each can be useful in different cases. An Attorney may charge you 1.2 hrs. This may be confusing if you're seeing it in the Log View as 12 minutes. This way you don't have to bring up the calculator to see how much 1.2 hours really is. CALCULATOR 7-3 ======================================================================= Psion Shift or zero key Brings up a calculator for doing simple calculations. Note that the calculator can be moved around the screen by pressing the arrow keys. This won't work while viewing a result. Pressing the space bar will bring it back to it's default position. Press M while viewing a result to store the number to memory. The Calculator position will be remembered the next time you call it up. SHOW ACTIVITIES 7-4 ======================================================================= Psion or / key This option will change the Charges column to "Activities". We did this due to the lack of screen width. There is no way to display everything on one screen, so for a quick view of the activities, just press the / key. PRINTING OPTIONS SECTION 8 - Special 8-1 ======================================================================= Psion

- Print Psion - Print Setup Print<*> - Print Preview Version 6.0 supports Print setup and Print preview. The standard keys are used. Choose Print setup to setup your Printer. LOG-IT will remember your setup. Make sure to set your margins so that they are not too big. You'll see more in your printouts. PsiPrint is also supported. Printing to File: . If printing to File, enter a filename. The file is saved to the Word directory on the Internal drive. After the file is saved, logit gives you the option of lauching Word to look at the file. ZOOM 8-2 ======================================================================= Psion The Timer has two possible font sizes. Use the Zoom option to change between the sizes. EXIT LOG 8-3 ======================================================================= Psion Use this option to exit the program. Any active timers are saved.
