Rally-X ROMs and other tech notes for those who care about such things... From the keyboard of Virtu-Al (dmccorm1@students.wisc.edu) These ROM images were pulled from a working boardset. My Rally-X boardset is composed of a CPU (marked LOGIC BD 2 on the silkscreen) and LOGIC BD 1 (video board?) similar in size to Galaga boardsets. The two boards are linked by three 24 pin connectors. To me, the hardware looks like early Namco stuff such as Galaxian and Pacman. It even uses some of the same custom ICs/daughterboards as Pacman. Rally-X does however generate the +5v and +12v in a standard PS unlike Pacman and Galaxian. There are unused ROM sockets on the CPU board that appear to support use of 2716s instead of the 2532s. Rally-X uses a single Z80 processor with a row of 12 2114 RAMs on the CPU board. The ROMs are 9332s (read as 2532s) that are often victims of leg rot that afflicts many Midway boards of this vintage. rallyx.1b (LOGIC BD 2) 9332B/2532 rallyx.1e (LOGIC BD 2) 9332B/2532 rallyx.1h (LOGIC BD 2) 9332B/2532 rallyx.1k (LOGIC BD 2) 9332B/2532 rallyx.7k (LOGIC BD 2) 7603 rallyx.11n (LOGIC BD 2) 7603 (video color decoder) rallyx.8e (LOGIC BD 1) 9332B/2532 rallyx.4n (LOGIC BD 1) 7603 The Disclaimer stuff (aka Cover my hinterparts) ============================================================================ Rally-X is copyrighted and the property of Namco and all that jazz.
