All other files remain the same. SPECIAL INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU ARE UPGRADING FROM AN =============== EARLIER VERSION THAN VERSION 1.10 =============== ================================= NB: Always keep backups during the upgrade process. Although the chances of any data being lost are negligible, it is much better to be cautious than sorry. The CPM.EXE file you have been using should be replaced with the new CPM.EXE file contained in this package. The disk files from all previous releases of MYZ80 remain compatible with this release of MYZ80. For version 1.10 the CP/M systems are updated. The CP/M 2.2 system uses a different structure for the ram disk and the CP/M 3.0 system uses different sector sizes as well. You should replace BOOT.CPM to change the CP/M 2.2 system and CPM3.SYS to change the CP/M 3.0 system. The old files will work however the D: drive will not be accessible. BOOT3.CPM should be replaced as a matter of course. The MYZ80 utilities on the disk files in this package will not work with releases of CPM.EXE prior to version 1.10, and the earlier releases of the utilities will not work with this release of CPM.EXE. This is VERY IMPORTANT to note as when you run CPM.EXE on your old disk files you may not be able to use IMPORT.COM to import the new utilities. You MUST first import the new IMPORT.COM to your old disk files using your old CPM.EXE then run the new CPM.EXE with the new IMPORT.COM to import all the other utilities. Run the new MYZ80 utilities using the "//" argument for information about how the new utilities operate (e.g. type "IMPORT //"). Any key definition files you have from versions before 1.03 are not compatible with this version of MYZ80. They will not cause harm however, and it is very easy to make new .KEY files with this release of the MYZ80 package. The information files contained on the disk files in this package have been upgraded. You should read them and retain them for future reference. It is no longer possible to specify a boot file name on the command line. This facility has been superceded by the ability to specify a boot file name in the DOS environment. The key name is MYZ80BOOT so the command SET MYZ80BOOT=BOOT3.CPM will specify the file BOOT3.CPM as the boot file. If you wish to continue specifying the boot file on the command line, make a batch file as follows: SET MYZ80BOOT=%1 CPM.EXE Note also the keyword MYZ80TERM to specify the default terminal emulation, and the use of MYZ80.CLR as a default colour file in the same subdirectory as the CPM.EXE file. End of File. ------------
