K2's H/P Guide ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Release 06/20/95 Intro ~~~~~ Oh man! OH MAN!!! I'm pretty KRAD now!!! In case you haven't figured out what I'm talking about, I'm referring to the CEM event. See, I put a bad review in on them, and then they published it along with one of their issues whining about me. So, here's a Q & A session for Joker (who uses a Dax sign for a "K"...??). Q: Why is K2's guide called H/P UTILS when it has zines??? DAMMIT($#_@(!! A: Well, if you would have tracked it from its beginning, you would have known that it originally started just reviewing utils. I moved it to include zines. Hmm, I'll change the name just for you, sound good? Q: Does Pirate zine exist? Let me have a copy! A: No, I put in a review for it because I wanted an extra just to impress others because I like to make friends with warez kiddies. WHAT DO YOU THINK?? If you want a copy, you have my email address. Q: Man, the AT&T calling card numbers are wrong!!! LAME! A: You're right for once, I had a friend review it for me and didn't bother to check up on it. Q: Hmm. DisordeR posted up a thing that bashed my zine! It must mean he wanted it put up as an article for my latest issue! A: No, because DisordeR bashed your zine (and he was nice, I'm surpised), it does not mean that he wants it published in it. I can't understand why you would even include that. And I also don't understand why you agree with him that your zine is stupid, but you keep making it. To quote my CEManar review, all I can say is WHY???? Sorry, that became sort of like an editorial. But I wanted to make sure that Joker would get my message, since he seems to always try to flame somebody through his zine, which limits replies. Anyway, there's really just an update or two in this release, I've got a few new things that will be out in the next release (in a week or so, I've hurt my knee playing baseball which keeps me indoors for a few days). Enjoy what's here, and hopefully in the next release you won't have to see any flames. K2 Internet: kay@rushnet.com Thanks to: TcP, Silicon, Overkill, DisordeR (for correcting me millions of times...), Timberwulf, anybody who's involved in the Old MFer's project, and anybody I forgot. E-Zines ~~~~~~~ 1. Anarchy 'n' Explosives - 6 Issues Primarily heavy explosives, 800 directory in first issue. Not bad. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°° 2. Art of Technology Digest - AoTD - 6 Issues Information on computer/modem related issues. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°° 3. Boston Anarchist Drinking Brigade - BAD - 8 Broadsides (Issues) A bunch of editorials. The zine has little to do with anarchy at all. Rating: ±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 4. CEManar - 39 issues I'm not too sure where to put this. It's basically a bunch of zines on anarchy put together with an .EXE to run it made by one of the authors of CEM. All I can really say is, WHY? Rating: ±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 5. Colorado Elite Magazine - CEM - 15 executables Gag. I originally rated this high, and it's fallen ever since. I'm getting sick of their fucking elite attitude. And there's only about one new (pointless) article a month. The only high point is that it's in .EXE form, which was interesting, but not worth the d/l time. Rating: ±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 6. Communication of the New Order - CoTNO - 5 Issues Nice fat files on all types of H/P issues, includes instructions on building various anarchy items, hacking, and lots more. One of the best sets of E-Zines ever written. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± 7. CORE - 10 Issues Could this be more boring? This is like reading an issue of Scientific American. I think this is aimed at poems, but it still doesn't make any sense at all! Don't waste your file points or HD space with this one. I can give it one award - it's the first zine to win a 0% rating! Rating: °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 8. DargonZine - 5 Issues What the fuck is this? How did this earn the name e-zine? Seems like a bunch of stories from authors rejected from Scientific American. About as stimulating as regurgitating gasoline. My recommendation: don't waste your time. Rating: °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 9. Digital Anarchist's Society - DaS - 7 Issues It's an okay zine. Nothing out of the ordinary, and it basically has the same old stuff as other zines. Isn't really good, isn't really bad. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°° 10. Digital Free Press - DFP - 5 Issues This is probably one of the best hacking zines in the country. Lots of information on hacking put in an easy to understand way. Also includes a few editorials. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°° 11. ELiTE-0 /<-N33t-0 'ZiN3 - 14 Issues This zine is really just a big joke and ripping on CEM. Pretty hilarious, but don't mistake it for a real zine like I did at first. Download it for a few laughs. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± 12. Fucked Up College Kids - F.U.C.K. - 119 Issues + FAQ + Application + Index Opinions on human life and how things are - not anywhere as near as lame as it sounds. Headquartered in Denver. My favorite zine out of all I've seen so far. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± 13. Colorado Hemp Primer - 2 executables Primer on marijuana in Colorado, legalization, and lots of other stuff. Nice big information guide, and while it's not exactly a zine, I put it in here for you marijuana guys. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°° 14. Jolly Roger's Cookbook - 197 Issues Huge cookbook comparable to the Anarchist's Cookbook. Contains recipes for bombs, boxes, methods of destruction, and much much more. The knowledge within these files are a perfect introduction to anarchy. It's also gotten national attention on Dateline NBC. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°° 15. LOD/H Technical Journal - LODTJ - 9 Issues Journal of information and instructions on issues relating to hacking and phreaking, aimed towards experienced H/P. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°° 16. Phreaker's/Hacker's Underground Network - P/HUN - 5 Issues Long text files on information on Phreaking and Hacking, aimed at a more experienced H/Per. Similar to LODTJ. Rating: ±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°° 17. Pirate - 5 Issues Another CEM, basically. A bunch of texts on pirating and BBS reviews. Lame, lame, lame. Rating: ±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 18. Punks Using Narcotics.....KRIME!!! - PuNK - 21 Issues Terrible, just terrible. The opinion files are very poor and rarely over three paragraphs. The instructions for anything destructive were obviously leeched from another zine, and are things a little kid could figure out. Looks like a bunch of 12 year olds copied JR's Cookbook. Rating: °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 19. Syndicate - 17 Issues (some come in SYND-xxA and SYND-xxB) News reports on the telephone business. Useful to a phreaker who needs to keep up to date, but I haven't seen any of these out that are even published in the nineties, so they are not as useful. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°° 20. Trickster Encyclopedia - 9 Chapters Sort of a big long thing on doing anarchy stuff, but the lack of any REAL information is big. It's like reading a really boring news article. Don't waste your time on this. Rating: ±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 21. United Phreaker's Incorporated - 10 issues Pretty good zine. Goes in depth on a lot of stuff, but it doesn't really offer anything on how to make or do things - just about them. Rating: ±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°° Programs ~~~~~~~~ 1. BlueBEEP! v0.10á Probably in the top five phreaking programs out. Includes red box tones, a scanner, a code cracker, a trunk locator, and a phreaking first - the CardTalker, a program that will relieve you from using your voice when you use stolen phone cards. Includes a few other interesting features. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± 2. CodeBuster v8.20 Seems like a five year old (or older, it's in CGA) hacking program. You're probably better off with BlueBEEP or Code Thief Deluxe. Rating: ±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 3. Code Thief Deluxe v5.1 Mainly a hacking program. You can program Code Thief to hack codes both locally and long distance. It also includes a scanner, which are a bit harder to find than they used to be. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°° 4. CreditMaster v2.0 The best credit card creation and utility programs I've seen anywhere. With CreditMaster you can generate cards, generate more reliable cards from former numbers, fix invalid card numbers, and see what the prefixes of cards refer to (different banks). Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°° 5. Professor Falken's Phreak Tools v1.11 A few tools for phreaking that aren't in any other programs I've seen - nothing to base anything huge on, but saves you time flipping through the phone book or calling information. Shows who owns 800/900 numbers, some areacode stuff, and some inner state stuff. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°° 6. Virus Creation Lab v1.00 The name says it all. This is the best virus creation program I've seen out. Really easy to use - just select what it infects and its effects, name it, and you've got yourself a virus. This program will make the FCC pale! Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±±± Utilities (Smaller programs) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. AT&T Calling Card Number Generator v0.1á Supposedly makes a calling card number, but they never really work. Just left the review in the zine so people know it's not real. Rating: °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 2. Credit Card Number Generator Cranks out ten MasterCard numbers, according to an algorithm. Includes Pascal source code. Password protection and speed are pluses, but in order to change the password you've got to edit the Pascal program! Rating: ±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 3. C¡N Card Checker Checks out the four major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, AmEx, and Discover), and it will sometimes identify license numbers. Rating: ±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 4. Death Box 2.0 Generates Red Box tones (not specified which types, unfortunately). Bleh. Rating: ±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 5. DTMF Decoder Tests out touch tones through a speaker plugged in your Sound Blaster. Rating: ±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 6. Flordia Driver's License Number Generator v1.1 One of the most original things I've ever seen. Want a driver's license? Need to get away from the cops or into adult files? Just type in a name, DOB, and sex, and you've got a license number! Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°° 7. Password Huh? This is suppose to keep track of your passwords, but without a documentation or any type of instructions, you can't use it! The author is the perfect example of an idiot. Rating: °°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 8. PassWord Grabber for Remote Access BBS v1.11 This program supposedly (I haven't tried it out) grabs the USERS.BBS file from RA BBSes, which would let you use any account there. If it works like it says, this program could be invaluable. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°° 9. Pbxscanner v5.0 Yet another phone scanner. This one seems to be pretty good, though, even though it's old and is written for 2400 modems. Not a top choice, but also not a last resort if you need a PBX scanner. Rating: ±±±±±±°°°°°°°°°°°°°° 10. PKCrack This will give you a pretty good shot at finding the password in an encrypted .ZIP file. Limited docs makes it hard to understand at first, but this is something you'll want to keep around on the HD. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°° 11. RúBox 0.99 I like this one. You need an AdLib compatable for this one (who doesn't have this anyway?). It provides Blue, Silver, Red, and Green Box tones. Pretty damn good for a small program. Rating: ±±±±±±±±±±±±±±°°°°°°
