Simply Labels Version 2.2 This file describes the changes and new features included in version 2.2 of Simply Labels. Users of version 2.01 can read this file and start using the new version right away. New users should print and read the complete documentation contained in the file SL.DOC. GENERAL CHANGES: This version has a slightly different file format than version 2.01 but it can read all files created with the previous version. When files are saved they are saved in the new format and can no longer be read by the old version. If you wish to continue using the old version you should make backups of your label files before saving them with version 2.2. Some minor color changes have been made and some minor bugs in version 2.01 have been corrected. EDITING: A lot of changes have been made to the editing functions in this version. Most of these can be seen in a help screen available while editing by pressing the F10 function key. You can now center a line/field or erase to the end of a line/field with a single keypress. Moving around your labels has been made easier with a word/field left and a word/field right feature. A position indicator has been added to show the current line and column position in the label. This is displayed at the bottom right of the label frame. When adding new labels to your files you now have the choice of starting with a blank label or to copy an existing label to the new label for editing. This is very useful if you have a lot of labels that have similar text. PRINTING: This is where most of the changes have been made and the Print menu has seen a few. The Range option has been renamed to Group but operates the same except it won't ask you for the first and last label if there is only one label in your file. The Line and Page choices have been removed from the Print menu but are still available by using ALT-P for Page and ALT-L for Line. These choices have been replaced with Repeat and Edit commands. In the old version you had to return to the browse menu to edit a label but now you can edit it directly from the Print menu. The Repeat command will repeat the last print command you entered. This works with printing a group of labels as well as with print searches. Using this option you can print any labels you want, change the format to Report and then with the Repeat command get a report summary of all labels that were printed. The Print Option menu has been changed to include the selection of a print format. Your label files can now be printed as Labels, Envelopes or in a Report format. Any label file can use all three formats but the envelope format is really only suited to mailing labels. All formats can be used with the screen, disk or printer. When Options is selected from the Print menu a screen is displayed showing all current selections of formats and print options. ENVELOPES: - Will print any size envelope - Option to print return address - Return address can be any label in your file or it can be entered manually - Each line in the return address can have its own typeface - Main address is printed the same way as labels using a different typeface for each line - Sample envelopes can be printed while entering options - All envelope options are saved as part of the label file REPORTS: - Report can have two title lines - Date can be printed in report title - Option for titles to repeat on each page - Report title can use any typeface - Body of report can use any typeface - Adjustable page size - Adjustable top, bottom and left margins - Option to print label numbers - Up to five columns in report - Any label line can be printed in any column - All report options are saved as part of the label file
