run the batch file DEMO.BAT. It will give you a brief
demonstration of some of the capabilities of the "DeluxePaint
Animation" program by Electronic Arts.

(One of the outstanding features is the Metamorphous Animbrushes,
the EGG and the CHICKEN was performed in a couple of simple
steps. DPA provided the change between the two objects, really
neat stuff!)

I can not say enough about this program. It is extremely easy to
use and provides instant feedback on your animations. Works with
VGA cards and monitor only. Comes with a capture and conversion
program so you can steal (borrow) from others.

You may have a difficult time finding a copy of the program as of
this writing (May 26, 1991). CompUSA only had three copies and I
got the last one!

I wanted to tell everyone about this program, because I can only
imagine some of the great animations that it will provide for our
amusement. Since you only need the PLAY.EXE program to view
them, and EA allows purchasers to distribute this at no charge.

The following is a excerpt from the introduction:

DeluxePaint Animation is a versatile and powerful graphics tool
that can help you create computer animations more easily than you
ever though possible. As you work with DeluxePaint Animation,
you have access to the same wide range of the painting and
graphics editing tools that were provided by DeluxPaint II
Enhanced. But DeluxePaint Animation has been tailored for
creating animations.

The most obvious of the powerful animation features is the
ability to animpaint(tm). Because animation is created as a
series of frames, the ability to paint across a series of frames
is of paramount importance. DP Animation lets you paint across a
series of animation frames as naturally as you would paint on a
single page. The animation frames flip for you as you paint, so
that animation flows from you brush with ease.

DPA extends DPII's brush concept to animation by providing
"animbrushes." You can pick up any segment of animation, and
paint with it just as you would with a mormal brush. Your
animbrush flips through its different "cels" as you paint to
place a different version of the brush at each stroke. You can
also save your animbrushes as animated clipart to be used in
future animations.

As if the above was not enough, DPA also helps you create
animations of objects moving in three dimensions. The Move
dialog lets you move and rotate a brush over any number of frames
by simply entering a couple of numbers and clicking a button.
Even users without special animation talents are able to create
stunning effects with the Move dialog.

When you've finished creating your animations, you can display
them as a mini-production with the Play utility included with
DPA. You can distribute the Play utility to friends and
colleagues. After all, great art is ment to be admired!
